The Priyadarshini Co-operative Society Ltd., Haleyangadi, was established with the intention of bringing about a co-operative revolution in Haleyangadi, inspired by the efforts of Co-operative Bhishma Shri H. Narayana Sanil and Co-operative leader Shri P. Shantharam Shetty, and guided by former minister Shri K. Abhayachandra Jain. It was registered in March 2021, and on 20.05.2021, under the leadership of Shri H. Vasanth Bernhardt, the society began its operations in Haleyangadi.
Started by a team of like-minded people, the society exceeded expectations in its first year, collecting a deposit of Rs. 7.5 crore and making profits, establishing itself as a model society. The society provided excellent customer service, and to expand its reach, it opened its second branch in Padubidri, Udupi district, on 28.09.2022 to serve the customers in the area.
Through transparent administration, excellent customer service, and the full cooperation of members and customers, by the end of its second year, the society collected a deposit of Rs. 18.5 crore and provided loans, making substantial profits. The society successfully completed its second year with full support.
As per the requests of its members and customers, the society opened its third branch in Kinnigoli, Mulki taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, on 31.03.2024. On this occasion, Dr. M. N. Rajendra Kumar, the president of the Dakshina Kannada District Central Co-operative Bank, inaugurated the branch and expressed his satisfaction with the society's operations. By the end of the year 2023-2024, the society had accumulated Rs. 23 crore in deposits and made profits of around Rs. 20 lakh, emerging as a model co-operative society.
The staff of the society provides excellent customer service, and their dedication is appreciated by the members at the annual general meeting. The society provides equal opportunities to all castes and religions in its employment opportunities, and the management is committed to providing employment to those who do not have opportunities.
The society has introduced mobile banking services for the convenience of its customers, allowing account holders to transfer money directly through a mobile application while sitting at home. Additionally, the society offers e-stamp facilities at all branches.
Achieving profits in the first few years of a new co-operative society is very challenging. However, Priyadarshini Co-operative Society has successfully made profits in its first three years, which is a remarkable achievement. In recognition of this success, it was awarded the "Special Achievement Award" for the year 2023-2024 by the Dakshina Kannada District Central Co-operative Bank, making it the first institution in Mulki taluk to receive this award.
Moreover, all branches of the society are fully air-conditioned and customer-friendly. The society operates with the belief that "customers are our assets," and with the goal that the financial development of customers leads to the development of the society itself.
